flyfishing on Ireland 's Sheelin

Flyfishing on Lough Sheelin

Lough Sheelin measures 4800 acres and is  7 kilometres long and 3 kilometres wide. Sheelin is one of Ireland's famous limestone loughs and because of this the trout it produces are much larger than the norm. The average trout size is over 3 lbs (1.3 kilograms)! Wild brown Trout up to 12 lbs. have been caught by our guests.

"Captains Bay" fishing lodge enjoys a private pier and considerable lake frontage on - you guessed it - Captains Bay. The Mountnugent River folws into Captains Bay, and Crover Castle Island occupies a prominent position in the mouth of the bay.
